ESCANABA — One lucky Escanaba residents will have the chance to run the aisles of Bougie’s Butcher Shop & Smoked Meats during a shopping spree Thursday morning. Her final bill will be paid by the Daily Press as part of the newspaper’s popular Supermarket Sweepstakes promotion.

At 10 a.m. Thursday, Jodi Wunder be given a shopping basket and a minute and a half to make her way through the store, collecting as much as she can carry to the checkout. She won the shopping spree after filling out an entry form clipped from the Daily Press and dropping it off at a local business identified on the form. Her form was then randomly drawn from more than 900 forms submitted by other readers eager to test their shopping skills at Bougie’s and Elmer’s County Market.

The shopping spree at Elmer’s took place at 9 a.m. on July 27. Debbie Dubord, undeterred by a broken arm, filled her cart with $926.43 worth of merchandise during a three-minute run through the aisles. As Bougie’s is physically smaller than Elmer’s, Wunder will be given less time to complete her spree, but will still have access to meats and other desirable items that can increase the her total bill.

Twelve local businesses sponsored this year’s Supermarket Sweepstakes: Bosk Equipment & Party Rental, Bougie’s Butcher Shop & Smoked Meats, Elevated Exotics Cannabis Dispensary, Elmer’s County Market, First Bank, For the Love of Cupcakes, Highland Golf Course, Jim’s South Side Grocery, KCL Embroidery & Kreations, Lakestate Industries, Riverside Chevrolet Buick GMC, and UPutt Family Fun Center.
