The man who created this super simple and quick video tutorial for making your own DIY floating shelves is Pinterest user @plankpillow. They are incredibly popular home designers and DIYers that blog their creations, reaching just under 100 thousand followers and over 10 million monthly views on their content. They have an entire website dedicated to their DIYs and home design content.
The man’s first task at building his floating shelves is to make the shelves. He uses thick pieces of wood to create a boxy shelf to a desired thickness. After assembling the box he then gives everything a pretty coat of dark stain. He installed two heavy duty bolts to the wall evenly spaced to hold the shelf and secured the shelf on the center of the bolts where he cut a gap in the wooden shelf box.
Such a simple and elegant look that was easy to DIY!
