New Art Exhibit Opening for Fall at the Williamsburg Winery

Jun 19, 2023

WILLIAMSBURG — Inspired by fall, the latest round of artwork for the Williamsburg Winery’s “Art at Wessex Hundred” exhibit, titled “What We Love,” opens on Sept. 1.

The ongoing exhibit showcases the original work of more than 30 local artistsworking in various media, including oil, watercolor, acrylic, pastels, fabric art, andcollages. The artwork changes quarterly, focusing on seasonal themes.

The new theme marks the arrival of crisp, cool weather. The Winery and the Wessex Hundred farm provide many opportunities for activities in the fall, from dinners in the vineyard on an autumn night to walks in the colorful woods and joining friends outdoors for a glass of wine. It is the goal of the organizers to capture those special moments in an array of images.

The exhibit is organized and managed by “The Art People” — or TAP — a group of volunteers from the Williamsburg arts community. The opening is timed to coincide with the winery’s 40th anniversary month.

The public is invited to a free, after-hours reception to meet the artists of “What WeLove” on Sept. 7 from 6 to 7:30 p.m. in the Tasting Room. Drinks will be available to purchase and complimentary hors d’oeuvres will be provided. The Tony Mata/Jordan Ponzi Duo will also be performing.

“What We Love” will be on display in the Winery’s Susan Constant Hall Tasting Room from Sept. 1 to Nov. 27. All art on exhibit is for sale. The exhibit is free and open to the public seven days a week. Check the Winery website for specific hours.
